What I’m Up To
It is the mission of Cadence Inc., to give equestrians the same advantage that other industries have been leveraging for decades.
As riders, we spend thousands of dollars every year on riding lessons, horse care and equipment. We work tirelessly toward our riding goals, spending endless hours at the barn and in the saddle. Our horses often have chiropractors, dentists, massage therapists, personal grooms and any number of specialized practitioners. Are you guilty of taking better care of your horse than you do of yourself? I know I have been!
Horses are 24/7. Plain and simple.
There was a time in my life when I felt that my passion for horses made it difficult to maintain balance. My relationships suffered. My finances were dismal. I felt run down and like I was just making it through each day- lucky to stay safe, earn a living and make ends meet. It seemed like the harder I worked, the faster the rat wheel spun and I could not figure out how to do it all and still have the energy for my horses, my family and the sport I love. A lot of what I was working toward felt frustratingly elusive. As an instructor, I saw my students struggling with similar issues. I started to challenge myself- to think in new ways, to break habits and patterns that kept me stuck making the same mistakes over and over. I hired a coach and took a fresh look at my business, my goals and at my relationships.
By using high level goal setting, values and personality assessments, mental skills, and strategies for increasing energy I transformed my riding, my business and my personal life.
I drastically improved my ability to be present with my horses, be competitive while staying grounded and help my students make faster progress with their horses. I had been a life long student of the human psyche and spirit but now I began to really apply what I was learning in my work. I applied principals from NLP (neurolinguistic programing), emotional intelligence and applied psychology. I tapped into my own intuitive capabilities and I began to see my riders change their relationships with their horses and, ultimately, with themselves.
Having spent more than 20 years as a professional rider and trainer and now the last several years as a business, health and leadership coach in the corporate realm, I am powerfully equipped to help you bring your dreams into your daily life.
People who are successful, joyful, and creative know that it is only through an exploration of the inner world that the outward experience of success can be fully expressed and enjoyed. As riders, our horses are both magical and tangible expressions of this. It is my belief that high performance is the result of intentional action, mental toughness, healthy routines and the ability to not only manage but capitalize on powerful emotions. Studies of elite level athletes show that the most successful competitors are the ones who clearly identify and stay connected to WHY they compete. They can directly link their most deeply held values to the results they desire and this allows them to stay highly focused and motivated in their daily routines and training sessions. Both as a trainer and a coach, this belief is at the heart of what I do. My coaching programs are the result of what I have learned working with thousands of riders, business owners and athletes for more than 20 years.
From the time I was three years old, horses have given me back to myself again and again. They require me to get big when I want to stay small. They teach me to be quiet and stay when I want to scream and leave. They constantly challenge me to step into the best of who I am. They have saved me from loneliness and taught me to embrace fear. I have always viewed my life’s work as an opportunity to give back to horses what they have, for so many years, given me.
Now, I live on a small farm on Vashon Island in the middle of Puget Sound. My current equine partners include Antano, a ten year old KWPN gelding who I compete at the FEI levels and Luna, a six year old Holsteiner mare just starting her career in dressage. When I’m not coaching or teaching, I spend time boating in the Pacific Northwest waters with my husband and our twelve year old son, running the occasional marathon and playing with the dog.

Darcee Sellers, Virtual Assistant
She is a busy mom to a 7 year old future entrepreneur, has a bunch of crazy dogs and is a pioneer in the Virtual Assistant industry. Known as YourSavvyVA, Darcee works with top life coaches, internet marketers and other solo-preneurs in the online biz world. She is my “secret weapon” and the woman working behind the scenes for many other top online business leaders.
After years of being involved in human and animal services, Darcee started her own brick and mortar bookkeeping business. After serving local clients in her area by traveling to their offices and updating their bookkeeping records regularly, she decided there must be a more efficient way to serve her clients. She quickly familiarized herself with programs that would allow her to do her work remotely and much more efficiently. Shortly thereafter, she was completing all of her work online from her home office. She brings this kind of innovation to everything she does.
Once her beautiful daughter Sophia was born, Darcee expanded her online knowledge base even more and began promoting her new skill set to her Twitter followers.
Now she can choose her clients and takes pride in keeping up with the latest programs and technology to support online business owners.

Photography can document an image or capture a moment of beauty, but it can also go beyond that end. Whether I am photographing people, animals or landscapes I like to create pictures that not only capture an image, but also tell a story with the feelings that image evokes. It's a wonderful way to savor life intensely. I create fine art photographs as well as commissioned work. You can learn more about me at www.jenniterp.com.
